Famous rapper faced with child support troubles
Those who enjoy rap music or follow the music industry are likely familiar with the work of Chief Keef, an up and coming rapper who has made a name for himself over the past year.
Our Virginia readers may be familiar with Chief Keef, born Keith Cozart, despite the fact that the famous rapper is from Chicago, Illinois. Although he is often in the news for his on stage performance, Cozart is making headlines for another reason as of late: He is behind on his child support payments.
It doesn't matter if you are a famous rapper or working in another industry, if the law requires you to pay child support there is no hiding from this duty.
According to recent reports, Cozart is faced with a $20,900 child support debt. However, he won't find himself in too much trouble for this debt thanks to the fact that he recently agreed to a payment plan. On October 21, 2013, a judge in Cook County, Illinois required Cozart to pay $11,000. By making such a large payment, he is able to avoid additional legal trouble for the time being. This is not the only issue Cozart is facing, however, as he has been attending drug addiction treatment in the hope of overcoming his marijuana dependency.
The rapper is scheduled for another day in court, related to his child support case, on December 10, 2013.
Anybody who is dealing with a child support case in court, either because they owe money or are owed money, should hire a knowledgeable family law attorney.
